From Nevada Representative February 19, 1890

Death of John Grove.

Mr. John Grove died at his residence south-west of Nevada last Thursday evening, February 13, 1890. His death was the result of pneumonia, induced by la grippe. Mr. Grove was born in 1855, La Salle county, Illinois and has been a resident of Story county nine years. He possessed many manly and neighborly qualities and was held in high esteem by his business and social associates. A wife and two young sons are left by his death to mourn a great loss. His funeral was largely attended at the M. E. church last Sunday afternoon and a very fitting sermon preached by the Rev. Mr. Danner. The kindly regard and sympathy of the entire community are fitly expressed in the action and resolution of Harmony Alliance found below:

At a meeting of Harmony Alliance No. 906, the following action was had:

The death of our brother, John Grove, which occurred February 14th, being announced a committee consisting of Brothers O. G. Ashford, John Cook, E. R. Chitty, J. W. Hague and John Scott were appointed to draft appropriate resolutions. The committee reported the following, which were unanimously adopted:

Resolved, That we extend to the family and friends of our Brother our most sincere sympathy in this sudden bereavement, and assurance of our prayers that the Father of us all may guard and keep them as in the hollow of His hand.
