--Mrs. J. G. Tanner of Nevada, a most estimable woman, died yesterday afternoon of pneumonia. She had been sick but a few days. Her funeral will take place Thursday. We shall publish obituary notice next week.

--J. W. Tanner* of Fullerton, Nebraska, who was in attendance at his mother's funeral Thursday, returned home the evening of the same day.

Mrs. J. G. Tanner died at 6 o'clock on the 14th inst. in her home of pneumonia which was brought on by an attack of the influenza. She was born in Martinsburg, Indiana, September 15th 1834. Thus she was fifty five years five months and one day old when she died. She leaves a husband and six children, three sons and three daughters to mourn her loss. Mrs. Tanner was a woman of rare excellence and refinement of character. She was pre-eminently a home woman, and here she exerted a most wholesome influence. That she was a Christian is well known in all who knew her. She was very modest, moved but little in society because of her feebleness. She was one of those who lived to be felt rather than seen. Such characters are always the most stimulating because the most substantial. She reared her family in the face of the most adverse circumstances and it survives her as a monument of her patience and care. She had her troubles but never told them to others. She was one of those rare quiet souls who had already learned the alphabet of sorrow through much study but was too noble to tell it to others. She told them the result of such study but buried the processes in the deep tomb of her own silent heart. Herein lies one of the chief marks of true character, silent burden bearing. The church of which she had been a member since 1866 will feel her loss for she was an example to all to live nobler and better lives. her life was a sermon. She spent a great portion of her life here in Nevada and every body knew her will and the community will keenly feel her loss. The world can not well spare such true worth for there is none too much of it. To those who remain behind her husband an children, the public extends its sympathy in this their time of need. The funeral services were held in the Presbyterian Church last Thursday afternoon, Rev. Campbell Coyle officiating. In spite of the cold weather a large company were present to do the departed honor.

For the kindly aid and sympathy extended so generously in this their time of sickness, loss and bereavement, the members of the family are sincerely grateful.
