Fatal Accident Near Maxwell
As Mr. Williams Jones and family were returning from Des Moines, last Tuesday evening, when near home, driving into a small bridge, the horses have sudden start, the back seat tipped throwing Mrs. Jones and her oldest daughter out. The latter only slightly injured but Mrs. Jones struck of the back of her head and from the moment her body was completely paralyzed, until death came to her relief on Friday last. Mrs. Jones was a native of the Principality of Wales. She had lived in this country 21 yeas and leaves a husband and six children to mourn her untimely death. She was highly respected by the community in which she lived. A goo, faithful, exemplary Christian, and an active worker in the Sunday School. The funeral services were held in Mt. Zion Chapel, Rev. Hahn officiating, and her remains were buried in the beautiful cemetery at Iowa Centre.
OBITUARY.--Sister Hannah Jones, wife of William J. Jones died near Mt. Zion church, Polk Co., Iowa, Aug. 16, 1889, aged 42 years 6 months and 7 days. She came to her death by an accident, as described above. She was rational all the time, she urged her family to be kind to each other and prepare to meet her in heaven. Sister J. was born in Wales and at the age of 21 came with her husband to Iowa and they were among the first settlers here. She was converted when only 10 years old; and from that time until her death she lived a devoted , humble Christian life, seldom missing any of the means of grace and always ready for Christian work wherever called upon.
There will be one vacant chair in prayer and class meetings and public services. Her class in Sabbath School will miss her very much. But she has only passed from labor to eternal rest. In her last hours she frequently spoke of the goodness of God to her through life. She had her work well done for eternity long before the accident occurred and now she is asleep in Jesus. In her death the family is bereft of a devoted wife and loving mother, the church of a zealous and earnest worker and community of a genial and worthy member. She leaves a deeply afflicted husband and six children to mourn their loss, which to her is eternal gain one child had gone before. Funeral by the writer from Rev. 14-13. W. J. HAHN.
