Dr. John Daugherty died at his home in this place Sunday night. he had been in poor health for some years and his death though regreted, was not unexpected. He was an old soldier and was without doubt deserving of a pension; but on account some technical defect in proof, he was unable to make good his claim. His funeral takes place this afternoon under the direction of the Colo G. A. R. Post, Elder Ramsey of Boone conducting the service. The friends and neighbors of the deceased testify to his worth as a good citizen and Christian. His wife and son receive the sympathy of the community.
