Died.

Dr. A. S. Welch died at Pasadena, California, last Wednesday and will be buried at Ames tomorrow. He was a man of affairs and of great usefulness. he was for a short time in reconstruction days a United States Senator from Florida, but he will be remembered as the virtual founder, and for fifteen years the head of the Iowa Agricultural College, in the death, Iowa has lost one of her foremost men and one whose usefulness will continue so long as the College and its students shall remain.

The sad news of the death of Dr. A. S. Welch reached us Friday. His remains will reach here to-day 5 P. M. The funeral will be held at the college chapel Thursday at 1:30 P. M. Prof. Wynn, of Atchison, Kansas, formerly of Ames, will deliver the funeral sermon. Addresses will be made by Prof. Stanton of the faculty and ex-Governor Gue. The remains will be buried in the College cemetery....
