From Nevada Representative August 29, 1888

DIED--At the residence of her parents, C. H. and M. A. Jackson, three miles west of Nevada, August 26th, of consumption, Effie May Jackson, in the 15th year of her age. She was born in Wapello Co., Ia., but came with her parents to Story Co. a number of years ago. When about six years of age a painful accident caused total blindness. She was therefore sent in due time to the school at Vinton, where she made rapid advancement in her studies, especially in music. Some time ago she came home unwell, and soon went to consumption. She was a very bright girl, and had a very gentle sweet spirit, which made her a general favorite. Her death was peaceful and happy. Rev. R. A. Ferguson conducted a funeral service Monday after which the remains were laid to rest in the Nevada cemetery.
