Died in this city, April 9, 1887, J. C. Elliot aged sixty years two months and twenty days. Mr. Elliot came to Story county in 1854 and has resieded in the county ever since. A wife* and six children, with many year relatives are left to mourn his loss. He was, until the past winter, a member of the M. E. church of this place. Having formerly belonged to the U. B. church he again joined them when that society was organized at this place during the past winter. His funeral was impressively conducted by Revs. Lewis and Vanderventer. The services were held in the Baptist church, and were witnessed by large gathering of friends and neighbors. Thus has passed away another of the old settlers, who has done his part in advancing the interest of the great West....
