Socrates McConnell, of Nevada township, died last Wednesday at Davenport, where he had gone for medical assistance. He had been in poor health for some time, but his death was unexpected. Because of the blockade, his friends here could not go to Davenport, but his remains were brought home Monday, and buried yesterday. The deceased was a young man of high character, and he leaves a young wife, formerly Miss Mary Finley, to whom he was married the first of last September.
