Lyman Pierce, father of Mrs. J. A. Fitchpatrick, died in Fresno, California, two weeks ago yesterday at the advanced age of 77. The sickness which resulted in his death was of two or three months duration. Some fifteen years ago he was a resident of Story county, living south of Ames. Subsequently, until his removal to California, two years since, his home had been in Cherokee county Iowa. During the rebellion he was a member of the famous "gray beard" regiment, the 37th Iowa, and did honorable service for his country. The member of his family here and elsewhere have the sympathy of many friends in their bereavement.
