From Nevada Representative April 15, 1885

Huron A. Bechtel, second son of Jonas and Matilda Bechtel, died Monday evening, April 13th being twenty five years and five months old. He was buried Monday afternoon, the services being conducted from the house.

He had been a sufferer for a number of years no one knowing with what he contended while working constantly. Possessed of an ambitious spirit, he accomplished what many a young man in sound health would have despaired of doing. In whatever he engaged he seemed to be possessed of a personal obligation. The sense of responsibility that characterized him would have made him a successful and useful man, had his physical strength not failed him. When he first took his bed, he thought it could not be that he must lie there, bound as it were, when so much waited for him to do. Yet as I watched him day by day, I saw quickly growing to maturity that patience which is the result of resignation to a Father's will. Early in his sickness he expressed regret at not having made a profession of his Savior while he had strength, and said that he had fully determined to do so soon as he would get to the House of God. He fondly hoped that he could do so on Easter Sunday, when the Lord's supper was celebrated. Disappointed in this, he willingly submitted to the ordinance of Baptism on his sick bed, and with unquestioning faith rested on the promises of the Word. As a little child, he trusted his savior to lead him through the Dark Valley, and without murmur he peacefully passed away. He wanted to live to show the honesty of his profession, and to serve his Master, but he cheerfully said, Thy will be done.

With confidence can me say:

"By thy hands the boon was given,
Thou hast taken but thine own;
Lord of Earth and God of Heaven,
Evermore--Thy will be done."
