Samuel Lough an old an respected citizen of Nevada township died Friday at his home four miles south of town. The deceased was born in Wayne county, Indiana, February 19th, 1817, and was 67 years 10 months and 15 days old at the time of his death. He first settled in Scott Co., Iowa, sometime in the early forties. He afterwards removed to Delaware county, and eight years ago next March came to Story county, which continued his home until his death. He had been a patient sufferer from asthma and other ills for eleven years, and for the past year had been confined to the house and much of the time to his bed. He died at a ripe old age leaving behind him a wife, six sons and a daughter, all of whom except two sons are still in the county. The funeral exercises were conducted at the house Sunday at eleven o'clock by Rev. Isaiah Reid. His wife, Fannie M. Lough, and his children; Anna M., Chester W., and Chas. S. Lough, desire to extend thanks to their friends who so kindly aided them in their sad bereavement and invoke upon the same Heaven's choicest blessings.
