From Nevada Representative January 20, 1904

Hon. Moses Dean, the revered father of Arthur Dena of Nevada, died last evening at the home of his daughter in Sycamore, Illinois, at the advanced age of nearly 89 years. He had been quite feeble since the last visit to Story county in the summer 1902, and for some weeks his condition had been considered critical. His son Arthur was with him three weeks ago at which time he rallied somewhat; but the flaring up of the candle was brief. He was a native of Sullivan county, N. Y. and the eldest of fourteen children, one of whom, a brother ten years his junior, Mr. Johnson Dean, resides with his son, Corbin Dean, on what is known as the Stevenson farm east of Nevada. His living children are his two daughters in Sycamore and Arthur Dean of Nevada. He had resided in Sycamore forty five years, had acquired a competence and been often honored by his townspeople. His intelligence, kindness, and fine social qualities had endeared him to the acquaintances made in Story county during his annual visits here, for he was wont to spend many weeks here visiting relatives and supervising improvements on his Story county farms, and his passing, though that of a shock of corn well ripened, brings to them regret. His son Arthur left for Sycamore last night to attend the funeral.
