Captain W. A. Wier an old veteran and one of the oldest pioneers of Story City died at his home Sunday evening January 28. He had not been ill but owing to his age, 85 years, he had been feeble late year. Charlotte Wier his wife, two sons Charles F. Wier and William H. Wier, nine grandchildren and three great grand children survive him. He enlisted during the civil war and returned as a Captain. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at Grace Church.
