Stanley Dean Valentine, 84, passed away peacefully Sunday, September 13, 2015 at the Madrid Home, in Madrid, Iowa.
Stanley was born December 12, 1930 in Moline, Illinois; he was the son of Phillip and Myrtle (DeMoss) Valentine. Stanley graduated from Ottumwa High School, and enlisted in the service, serving in the Navy, Air Force, and retiring from the Army National Guard. Following Stanley's military service, Stanley served as the commander of the American Legion Post #37 in Ames.
Stanley married the love of his life Shirley (Bowers) Lehman on May 24th, 1976. Stanley was employed with Qwest Communications, working in maintenance department up until his retirement. He enjoyed fishing the waters in and around Iowa, attending drag races, and taking walks with Shirley. Stanley will be remembered for his crafting of Bird and Squirrel feeders, various yard decorations, as well as his warm and inviting smile.
Survivors include his wife; Shirley Valentine, son; Michael Valentine of San Francisco, CA, step-son; Bill (Janet) Lehman of Boone, IA, daughter; Anna Swan, step-daughters; Pam (Bob) Schmidt of Boone, IA, Marsha (Dick) Ledet of Nevada, IA, Becky (Elliott) Allton of Columbia, MO, brother; Carl Valentine of Blakesburg, IA, grand-daughter; Melissa Swan, 8 step grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Phillip and Myrtle (DeMoss) Valentine, and brother; Phillip Valentine.
