Obituary From Adams Soderstrum Funeral Home, Story County, Iowa.

Michael Gibson
April 5, 1957 - August 13, 2015

Mike was born April 5, 1957 in Des Moines to Edna and Marshall (Woody) Gibson. He was part of a large, loving family. He grew up in Slater and graduated from Ballard High School. He married Karen Kever, and to that union was born Sarah and Ben. Following the death of Karen in 1989, Mike was united in marriage to Joyce Conley in 1993. He worked at Danfoss for 39 years in many capacities and most recently held the position of Consumer Focused Delivery Manager.

The light of Mike’s life was his nine-month-old grandson, Henry Michael, who inherited his grandfather’s beautiful smile. Mike cherished time with family and frequently looked forward to weekends at his cabin on the Gibson Farm. At the farm, Mike was the self-appointed “project manager,” following in his dad’s footsteps, and could be counted on to always have a project in motion. Mike also enjoyed woodworking, fishing, four-wheeling, and watching movies. He enjoyed life to fullest, and his favorite saying was, “Life is good.”

Mike was a lifetime member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, serving on Church Council, teaching Sunday School, and volunteering in other church activities. Recently, Mike helped with the start up of the clothes pantry.

Mike passed away August 13, 2015 at Mercy Hospital from complications associated with cancer and will forever be missed by those who knew and loved him.

Mike is survived by his loving wife, Joyce; daughter, Sarah of Ankeny; son, Ben (Emily) and grandson Henry of Slater; his siblings, Myrna Harmon, Marcia Millang, Gary (Carol) Gibson, and Elaine (Max) Raines; father and mother-in-laws, Pat and Marilyn Conley and Ken and Irene Kever; brother-in-laws, Dale (Julie) Kever and Dana (Nancy) Kever; sister-in-laws Donna (Larry) Warshaw, Lynn Conley and LuAnn Gibson, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Karen; his parents; brother, Rich Gibson; and brother-in-laws, Darrell Harmon, Don Millang, and Craig Conley.
