Obituary from McCalley Funeral Home, Dallas County, Iowa:

Janice Lea Canny passed away on July 5, 2015 at Kavanagh Hospice in Des Moines, IA with family present.

Funeral services will be on Thursday, July 9, 2015 at the Van Meter Methodist Church, Van Meter, Iowa at 1:00PM, with burial to follow at the Van Meter Iowa Veterans Cemetery. Family will greet friends Wednesday, July 8th at the church from 5:00 to 7:00PM.

Janice was born May 11, 1959 in Ottumwa, Iowa, the daughter of John and Irma (Bray) Canny, where she attended and graduated high school in 1977. She then enlisted in the US Army on October 28, 1977. She served in both stateside posts and in Germany.. She was discharged on July 11, 1983.

Jan began working for Iowa State University in 1995. She graduated from Iowa State in 2004 with a Masters in Family and Consumer Science. Jan worked for Iowa State University until 2009 when she moved to Dubuque, Iowa and began working for IBM.

Survivors include her husband, Shahzad Choudhary; children, Caroline (Levi) Perez, Michael (Stacy) Peterson, and Matthew (Darwin) Peters0n; mother, Irma Canny; sisters, Diana (Bob) Swanson and Denise (Thom) Bahr; and grandchildren, Madison, Malori, Kyleigh, Remey, and Christopher.
