Obituary from Memorial Services of Iowa, Ankeny, Polk County, Iowa:

Roy Robert DeMoss, Jr., 75, of Ames was promoted to heaven July 16, 2015 and finally made it home. He was reunited with JoAnn, his wife of 51 years.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 23, at Grace Bible Church (308 Mathews Dr., Gilbert). A visitation will be held 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 22, also at the church.

Roy was born on April 24, 1940, in Ames, Iowa, to Roy and Evelyn DeMoss. He graduated from Ames High School in 1958 and graduated from AIB with a degree in business. On September 1, 1962, Roy married his true love JoAnn Severtson. The couple made their home in Ames and were blessed with three children: Aaron, Kathy and Dana. Roy was employed with the US Postal Service for 35 years, enjoying many years at the Welch Avenue Station where he maintained long-term friendships with students and the community.

Roy was an avid outdoorsman, hunter and fisherman but most importantly he was a fisher of men. If you met Roy, you knew in the first five minutes he was a Christian, he was going to heaven and he wanted you to come with him. He spent his life teaching Sunday School, Awana, and Bible classes.

Roy will be missed by his children, Aaron (Susie) DeMoss, Kathy (Paul) Sliva, and Dana DeMoss, all of Ames; five grandchildren, Jason and Nicole Sliva, Sam DeMoss, and Akira and Tobias DeMoss; brothers-in-law Larry Beach and Steve Epstein; extended family and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, JoAnn; two sisters, Lynn Beach and Karen Epstein; and one brother, Gary DeMoss.
