WINGERT FUNERAL HELD ON MONDAY

FORMER NEVADA WOMAN WAS BROUGHT HERE FROM SEATTLE

Funeral services for Mrs. Malissa Wingert, 78, widow of the late A. F. Wingert, former Nevada woman, who passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. C. B. White, at 3956 West Kenyon, Seattle, Wash., Wednesday, June 3, were held at the Bishop Funeral home Tuesday afternoon with C. A. Tiffany, former First Reader of the Christian Science church of Cedar Rapids, in charge.

During the service there were two songs, "Still, Still With Thee," and "Abide With Me," sung by Mrs. W. W. Shaffer of Nevada. Following the service the body was laid to rest in the family lot in the Nevada cemetery by the side of the husband who died about two and a half years ago.

Pall bearers were H. P. Alberry, C. E. Airy, C. A. Batman, E. C. Button, W. W. Finnie and Carl Irish.

The body, accompanied by the daughter Mrs. White and the son George F. Winger and wife, arrived here Sunday morning over the Rock Island from Seattle.

Mr. Wingert, whose maiden name was Malissa G. Baldwin was born in New York state July 10, 1853. She came west with her parents and was married to A. F. Wingert at Franklin Grove, Illinois when she was twenty years of age.

Mr. and Mrs. Wingert came out to Nevada in 1879 and their home continued here until 19078, when they moved to Cedar Rapids. There they lived for number of years, after which they move to Ames for a short time before joining their son and Alexandria, Minn. It was there hat the husband passed away about tow and a half years ago. Following his death Mrs. Wingert went to Seattle and had since made her home with her daughter.

Three children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Wingert. They were Willie, who passed away when a small lad; Carrie, now Mrs. Charles B. White of Seattle and George F. now of Alexandria, Minn. She leaves the two children and one sister, Mrs. J. H. Riddlesbarger of Nevada and host of friends in Nevada and various other places where the family home has been.

It was while the family home was in Cedar Rapids that she accepted the Christian Science faith and she was a member of the First Christian Science church of that city.

Besides the members of the family present at the funeral, there was a number of friends over from Ames, Mr. Tiffany was accompanied by Mrs. Tiffany and Mrs. E. E. Lowe of Cedar Rapids and a large group of old neighbors and friends of Nevada.

Mrs. Wingert was a woman active in affairs in Nevada during her long time residence here and she will be most kindly remembered by many friends of those days.
