He came west with his parents when a lad of 9 years, settling in Franklin Grove, Ill. It was there that he was united in marriage to Miss Melissa Huntly in 1873.

Mr. Wingert came out to Iowa first in 1878, later returned to Illinois and finally came to Nevada in 1880, where he located and where the family home was continued until 1907. Then they moved to Cedar Rapids, which continued as their home until two years ago when they went to Minnesota, to be near their son, George F. and family.

He leaves to mourn his death his wife, Mrs. Melissa Wingert, one son, George F. Wingert of Alexander, Minn., the daughter, Carrie Wingert-White of Seattle, a sister Mrs. Mary Brown of Houston, Texas, and several grandchildren. The elder son, Will Wingert, was killed in an accident, a few years after the family came to Nevada.

During his long residence in Nevada he was also always prominent in business affairs and for a time was connected with this brother-in-law the late J. H. Riddlesbarger in one of the largest produce concerns of central Iowa.
