Obituary from Ernst Funeral Home, Waukee, Dallas County, Iowa:

James W. Lewis, 79, of Story City, formerly of Waukee, passed away April 30, 2015 in Story City, IA. James was born to Harold and Arlene (Miller) Lewis on October 24, 1935 in Des Moines, IA.

Funeral Services will be held Monday, May 4, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Ernst Funeral Home. A social gathering time with light refreshments will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment to follow at Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter, Iowa.

Jim enjoyed spending time at the lake, fishing and camping. He enjoyed riding dirt bikes and adored his wife and family. He was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps and member of the AmVets Post #2. He spent most of his working career as a carpet installer.

James is survived by his loving wife Buel of Story City, IA; daughters Debbie Lewis of Spokane, WA and Kathy (Pete) Wood of Spokane, WA; granchildren Kristi, Mark, Crystal and Janet; numerous great-grandchildren; sisters Margaret Gunn, of Eufaula, OK, Judy (Richard) Hall of Charles City, IA, Becky (Arlo) Edwards of Goldfield, IA and Cheryl Buckalew of Dallas Center, IA and brother Jerry (Ramona) Lewis of Ellston, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Linda Kopfer and granddaughter Tonya.
