Leon, Decatur County, IowaRichard G. Boor, son of James Ross and Reletta Wheeler Boor, was born Dec. 22, 1938, in Iowa City and died of complications of cancer July 7, 2001, at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. He was 62.
He grew up in Osceola and graduated from Leon High School.
Mr. Boor married Joan Weaver on Nov. 5, 1960.
He worked at the Rath Packing Plant in Waterloo for four years. He moved to Mesa, Ariz. in 1962, where he worked in the banking business. They moved to Williams in 1986. He worked at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames as an assistant to the construction managers. He retired in 2001.
Mr. Boor was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Ames. He established Riverside Ministries, southern gospel singing.
Preceding him in death were his parents and a brother, Bernard Boor.
Mr. Boor is survived by his wife, Joan Boor of Williams; two daughters, Kandy Boor of Sherwood, Ark. and Rebecca Frank of Iowa Falls; two sons, Aaron Boor of Jewell and Ben Boor of Farmington, Minn.; 15 grandchildren; two brothers, Maurice Boor of Deer River, Minn. and Gerald Boor of Alden; six sisters, Helen Meyer, Carolyn Hoversten and Nancy Barnhart, all of Iowa Falls, Aletha Anderson and Marilyn Venner, both of Williams and Norma Alderdyce of Coulter; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were July 10 at First Assembly of God Church in Ames, Pastor Gary Pilcher officiated. Interment was in Northlawn Cemetery in Iowa Falls. Arrangements were by Steven’s Memorial Chapel in Ames.
