Merle Andrew passed away February 3, 2015 at the age of 78.

A visitation will be held from 5-7:00 p.m., on Friday, February 6, 2015, at Stevens Memorial Chapel (607 28th St., Ames). Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Saturday, February 7, 2015, at Stevens Memorial Chapel, with burial following in Story Memorial Gardens.

Merle was born to Carl and Beatrice (Mize) Andrew on July 17, 1936, in Ames Iowa.

Merle was a bit of a jokester, but always a competitive man, he loved racing, and would race anything he could, as long as it had wheels. He enjoyed bowling, riding motorcycles, working in his yard, and seeking treasures with his metal detector. Merle liked to spend his mornings having coffee, telling stories, and reminiscing with the guys. Merle was always willing to lend a hand to those in need; one of his greatest pleasures was spending time with those he loved.

Merle is survived by his Wife; Karen (Jenkins) Andrew of Ames, Sons; Frank Andrew of Collins, David Andrew of Ames, Daughters; Darcy (Dennis) Ewing of Ames, Theresa (Kenneth) Arnold of Ames, Deanna Haines of Boone, Eva (William) Bacon of Nevada, eight Grandchildren; Johnathon Andrew, Jina McBroom, Carl Markley, Keara Sorenson, Jake Andrew, Kaitlyn Warren, Anna Kellar, Carson Bacon, Riley Bacon, Connor Bacon, eight Great-Grandchildren; Zane McBroom, Grace Markley, Andrew Markley, Taylor Roberts, Brenton Sorenson, Trenton Sorenson, Blaine Sorenson, Peyton Warren, Sisters; Jane (George) Winn of Maple Grove, MN, and Linda Williams of Maple Grove, MN.

He was preceded in death by his daughter; Lyla Andrew, granddaughter Neva Andrew, and his parents Carl and Beatrice.
