Barbara Rake, 88, passed away January 25, 2015 at Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Columbus Junction, Iowa. Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 30 at Ames Municipal Cemetery.

Barbara Ann Rake was born March 26, 1926 to Earl and Gladys (Cowdry) Jones in Ames, Iowa. Barbara was united in marriage to the love of her life, Harold A. Rake, on August 29, 1952 in Ames. They had 61 wonderful years together before he died in 2013. Due to declining health, Harold and Barbara moved from Ames to Columbus Junction in 2012 to be nearer their son and daughter-in-law, Lonnie and Cheryl.

Barbara is survived by a daughter, Linda (Joe) Harris, of Cabot, AR; and a son, Lonnie (Cheryl) Harless, of Columbus Junction; four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Melvin Jones and Marvin Jones; and her husband, Harold.

A memorial has been established at the Columbus Junction Public Library, 232 Second Street, Columbus Junction, Iowa 52738.
