Funeral Rites Held Here Sunday for Ella Funston
Funeral services for the late Mrs. Ella Shugart Funston, 83, at Minneapolis, Minn., who passed away in Rochester, Minn., on Thursday evening were held from the Morfoot Funeral Home Sunday afternoon at 2 p. m. with the Rev. James D. Ransom of Central Presbyterian church officiating.
Burial was in the Nevada cemetery by the side of the husband who passed away in Ottawa, Kan. three years ago. Casket bearers were E. S. Armstrong, J. K. Banks, Robert J. Campbell, John R. Borgen and F. G. Dunahugh.
Ella Shugart was born near Amboy, Stark County, Illinois, June 16, 1860 and passed away in Rochester, Minn., at 8:30 p. m. Thursday, dec. 9, 1843.
She came to Nevada with her parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Zac Shugart, about 1870. She was a member of the second class to graduate from Nevada high school.
On Dec. 18, 1879 she was married to H. M. Funston, Nevada attorney, and made her home in Nevada until moving to Minneapolis, Minn., in June, 1902. The family home was moved to Ottawa, Kansas in 1911 and there Mrs. Funston continued to live until the death of the husband. She returned to Minneapolis, April 19, 1941 and made her home with her son, Harry Funston and family.
Mrs. Funston is survived by her son Harry Funston of Minneapolis, and by one grandson, Fred Funston who is with the U. S. Marines at San Diego, Calif.
