Obituary From Adams Soderstrum Funeral Home, Story County, Iowa.

Myrna was born February 8, 1917 in Franklin County, Iowa to Martin and Carrie (Lunning) Erickson. Myrna learned how to survive the great depression of the 1930s, by adopting the work ethic of her mother, Carrie. She was a graduate of Ellsworth High School, Ellsworth, Iowa in 1935. During her high school years and beyond, she worked for the Ellsworth newspaper as a Linotype operator. Myrna met her husband while she was a roller skating assistant. She married Francis Hagen Reisetter on November 30, 1939 at the Lutheran church by Pastor C. D. Naglestad. She was also confirmed by Pastor Naglestad. She pursued general house work and rearing her two sons, Linn and Philip.

She went back to work in 1955 for the Ellsworth newspaper. They moved to Jewell and she worked as a sales clerk for Clayton’s Variety Store. Later in 1961, she worked at Bourns in Ames for 17 years, as a quality control inspector of small electronic parts and worked at 3M for eight years. She was a member of Bethesda Lutheran Church.

Myrna enjoyed needlework of all kinds and crocheting. She created many hand-stitched towels, wall hangings and afghans. She loved her flower plantings around her house and in her garden producing many beautiful blooms every year. She also had a big vegetable garden. She also liked to read and had the distinction of reading every book in the Jewell Community Library. She would keep a journal of each book, logging her opinions and observations about the book.

Myrna always enjoyed playing cards: Bridge, Canasta, and 500. She belonged to a Bridge club and the Jewell Women’s Federated Club.

She loved music. In 1950, she was a member of the Jewell Chorus as it sang its way to the top during a music contest at KRNT Theater in Des Moines, Iowa. This was a group of 16 women, all members of the American Legion Auxiliary.

In the fall of 2009, Myrna decided to move to assisted living at Cedar Place in the Bethany Life Communities in Story City, Iowa. This was a move she enjoyed very much and regretted not doing sooner. At Cedar Place, she met many people who she knew from the Jewell, Ellsworth, Randall and Story City area.

Myrna Christine Erickson Reisetter, 97, of Story City and formerly of Jewell died November 28, 2014 at Bethany Manor in Story City.

Myrna is survived by her two sons, Linn F. (Mary Ann) Reisetter of Newton and Philip M. (Karen) Reisetter of Coralville; four grandchildren, Rachelle (Bill) Larson, Christine (David) Zierke, Matthew (Sarah) Reisetter and Anna Reisetter; and five great grandchildren, Jacob Larson, Ethan and Erika Zierke and Hagen and Maddux Reisetter.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two sisters and two brothers.

Memorials may be made to Bethesda Lutheran Church or Bethany Manor.
