Phillip Eugene Riley was born March 23, 1952 to Arthur E. and Kathleen (De Moss) Riley in Ames, Iowa. He graduated from Ames High School in 1969. Phillip met and married his soul mate, Gail Williamson on September 4, 1982.

While living in Ames, Phil pursued acting and was very involved with the Actors Theater. He worked several jobs in Ames, amongst them was for the railroad. He and Gail moved to California to pursue his acting career and Gail’s work.

Phillip was a kind and loving husband, son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle and treasured friend. He loved acting and pursued a career in that field, but his real passion was taking care of his wife, Gail, always making sure things were well with her. They had an incredible bond and enjoyed each other from the day they met. He and Gail always fussed over their nieces and nephews. He was a peacemaker at heart and always stood for what is right. Phillip enjoyed music, golfing, bridge, gardening and watching old movies. He was a great trivia buff on music and movies and could engage you in many a conversation about them. Phillip could talk about anything. Phillip was a treasured friend and accepted everyone and was a man of great compassion, especially for their cats.

Phillip Riley is survived by his wife, Gail Williamson, of Monrovia; his father, Arthur Riley, of Ames; his brothers, David (Karen), of Sioux City, and Joseph, of Ames; his sisters, Mary (Joel) Glenn, of Huxley and Mitzi Riley (Galen Omvig), of Story City; Gail’s parents, Roger Clinton Williamson and Frieda Louise (Vandever) Williamson, of Delaware; his brother-in-law, Roger C. Williamson III (Beth), of Maryland; his sister-in-law, Mary Francis Leahy, of Reno, Nevada; and his brother-in-law, Ken Derr. Also surviving are his nieces and nephews, Kamilla, Jedidiah, Gabriel, Angela, James, Rachel, Brian, Rebecca, Tyler, Carrie, Roger and Arthur; and several great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Kathleen Riley, and one sister-in-law, Lynn Williamson.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Defenders of Wildlife, 1130 17th Street, NW
