James Brooks, age 52, of Nevada, Iowa, died at his home in Nevada on Tuesday, November 4, 2014.

A Celebration of James’ Life will be held at Ryan Funeral Home in Nevada on Saturday, November 8, 2014, from 2-4 p.m.

Born December 11, 1961, in Ames, Iowa, James Earl Brooks was the son of Richard Paul and Opaline (Bradley) Brooks, Sr. Jim grew up in Nevada where he attended school and graduated in 1981.

On May 29, 1989, he was united in marriage to Traci Bird in Ames. The couple was blessed with one daughter, Elizabeth.

Jim was employed at Print Graphics in Nevada for many years. He was a movie buff and also enjoyed stock car racing, computers, and golfing.

Survivors include his daughter, Elizabeth of Ames; a brother, Richard (Monica) Brooks, Jr. of San Antonio, TX; a sister, Thelma Powers of Nevada; and other extended family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother in infancy, Timothy.

Ryan Funeral Home of Nevada has been entrusted with the care of Jim and his family.
