Clark Weltha, age 73, of Nevada and formerly of Ames, died Friday, October 10, 2014, at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Ryan Funeral Home in Nevada on Wednesday, October 15, 2014, from 2-4 p.m.
Clark Avery Weltha was born July 30, 1941, at home in Randall, Iowa. He grew up and was educated in Randall near the Christytown Bible Camp area. He served in the United States Army for three years. After his honorable discharge from the military, Clark returned to Iowa and on July 15, 1964, was united in marriage to Sharon Williams. The couple was blessed with two sons, Vance and Paul.
Clark began his career in the plumbing business at Gibbs Plumbing in Ames, and eventually opened his own shop in Ames, Weltha Plumbing and Cooling, which he operated for over 30 years. In retirement he opened Ames Pawn Broker shop. Clark had a knack for brokering deals and was well-known for his ability to negotiate a bargain. He enjoyed traveling, hunting, boating, and following his grandkids’ many activities.
Survivors include his sons, Vance (Julie) Weltha of Baxter, and Paul (Anne) Weltha of Bloomington, IL; five grandchildren, Clayton, Amber, Austin, Ellie, and Jack; a special friend, Pat Kuhnle of Ames; two brothers, Conley (June) Weltha of Huxley, and Floyd (Helen) Weltha of Randall; three sisters, Bonita (Don) Bappe of Ames, Janette Gess of Jacksonville, FL, and Marie (Wayne) Johnson of Des Moines; as well as nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon, and his parents.
Ryan Funeral Home of Nevada has been entrusted with the care of Clark and his family.
