Obituary for Marjorie Emma Griffith

Marjorie Emma Griffith, 96, peacefully passed away into her heavenly eternal home on October 15, 2014, at Iowa City Mercy Hospital Hospice Center.

Visitation will be held at the Cambridge, Iowa United Methodist Church Saturday, October 25, at 9 a.m. Funeral services will follow at 10:30 a.m. Pastor Mark Arant (grandson) will officiate. Burial will be at the Center Grove Cemetery following the service, with lunch served at the Dorcas Hall in downtown Cambridge.

Marjorie was born August 22, 1918, in Akron, Ohio to Edward and Mary Olson. She graduated from Des Moines North High School in 1936 and Drake University (2 year) in 1938 and earned her 4 year in 1963.

Marjorie taught school in Cambridge and Elkhart for over 30 years while living in Cambridge with her husband, Kermit of 53 years. In 1999 as a widow, Marjorie moved to Omaha, Nebraska. For the past 8 ½ years Marjorie was a popular resident at Skyline Manor in Omaha.

Marjorie lived her faith in Jesus and influenced many.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda (Jack) Arant of Omaha, Nebraska; her son, Roger (Mardi) Griffith of Cambridge; three grandsons, Jeff, Mark and Steven; one granddaughter, Barbara; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Her husband Kermit; parents; two brothers, Dell and Edward; and a sister Dorothy preceded her in death.

Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada is handling arrangements.
