Obituary

David Lyon was born in Kentucky March 23d, 1814, and died at the home of his son two and one half miles west of Ames Sept. 4th, 1896 in the 83d year of his age. He was marred in Indiana to Miss M. J. Banning Sept 17, 1840 who still survives him. He moved to Polk County in 1852, where he lived eight years. In 1861 he moved to a farm near Ames. He moved from there to South Dakota, where he lived until Nov., 1890, when he returned to Story Co. to make his home with his son. The funeral was held in the Christian church in Ames last Sunday in charge of Rev. Williams. A large concourse of friends were present who will join with the community in extending the bereaved relatives their profound sympathy.
