RUTH LONG
Ruth Lucille Long, 70, of Nevada, died Wednesday morning, June 9, 1982 at Long Term Care, Story County Hospital.
She was born June 25, 1911 in Lake City, Iowa, the daughter of George Halic and Martha McKee Fulkerson, and attended the Lake City schools. She was baptized in the Lake City Methodist Church at the age of 10.
On Dec. 6, 1930, she married Raymond Ernest Long. The couple lived near Lake City until 1940, when they moved to Michigan, and moved from there to Nevada in 1963. Mrs. Long spent much of her time caring for retarded persons in her home and was active in the Association for Retarded Citizens.
She is survived by her husband; two sons Halic R. of Nevada and Gregory M. of San Diego; a sister, Wilma Simmons of Nevada; a granddaughter and a grandson.
Mrs. Long was preceded in death by her parents; an adopted son, Larry Joe, in 1963; and three sisters, Myrtle, Mabel and Lillian Mae.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 11, at 3 p.m. at the Ryan Funeral Home, Nevada, with Dr. William Bass officiating. Burial will be at the Nevada Cemetery.
