Sudden Death of Fred Lloyd, World War Vet

Fred Lloyd, 47, World war veteran, died suddenly at the Leo Hansen farm, just northeast of Nevada, Saturday evening about 6:00 from a sudden heart attack.

Lloyd had accompanied Jake Mead, who is employed at the Hansen farm, out to do the evening chores. While Mead went to the pasture to drive in the horses and mules, Lloyd sat down on the sill to the barn door and when Mead returned he found the man dead from a heart attack.

A doctor was called and an examination revealed that death was due to a heart attack, and the body was brought to Bishop Funeral home.

Funeral services in charge of Rev. C. E. Lookingbill here held there today at 2:00 p. m. after which the body was laid to rest with military honors on the lot belonging to Nevada Post No. 21, American Legion, in the Nevada cemetery, with the Nevada Post of American Legion in charge.

Alfred Edward Lloyd was a native of Cleverley, England, where he was born September 19, 1890. He came to America about 28 years and was working on a farm in the community when America entered a World war.

After his discharge from the army he returned to Nevada and he since worked as a farm hand or at other labor. For some time he had been employed by Keneal Swenson in the operation of a threshing machine and cornsheller.

He was never married. His mother died and was buried here and he leaves a brother Arthur and a sister Mrs. John Berrett, both of Shipley neighborhood.
