THIRD VETERAN ANSWERS 'TAPS' WITHIN 2 WEEKS

C. H. DICKEY CALLED BY DEATH NEW YEARS DAY-- THE FUNERAL SATURDAY

Charles H. Dickey, 80, Civil war veteran, pioneer resident of the county and for many years jury bailiff of the district court, who died at his home on Eighth street New Years just before the noon hour, was the third Civil war veteran to answer to "taps" in Nevada within two weeks.

Mr. Dickey, long active in Grand Army circles, was post commander at the time of his death and was well known among the veterans of the county.

He leaves his wife, two sons, Bert S. Dickey of this city and Dr. Claude Dickey of Des Moines and one daughter, Mrs. Mabel Dewell of Muskogee, Oklahoma.

He had been an invalid for the past several months and his death was not unexpected. Complications incident to the ravages of old age were responsible for his death.

Nevada Post No. 48, American Legion, of which his grandson, Harold Dickey is Past Commander, will have charge of the military honors at the interment furnishing the pall bearers, the color guard and firing squad.

The funeral services will be held at the home corner Eighth and Avenue H. Saturday afternoon at 2:30, the services being in charge of his pastor and friend, Rev. Jackson Giddens of the first Methodist church of this city.

The daughter, Mrs. Edgar H. Dewell of Oklahoma will not be able to be here, according to a message received today, which said that she was sick and unable to make the trip at this time.
