Merlin R. Wait

Merlin Ray Wait, 85, Nevada, died of heart failure April 6 at the Long Term Care Unit of the Story County Hospital, Nevada.

Wait was born June 17, 1904 in Coleridge, Neb., to Merton and Margaret Wait. He was a resident of Nevada for two years and was a former resident of Denison and Coon Rapids. He married Stella Darland June 2, 1932, in Coleridge. He was an electrical and diesel engineer, retiring in 1971, and a graduate of Carnegie Institute of Technology in Pittsburgh, Penn. He was a member of Denison First United Methodist Church, Denison Rotary Club, the Iowa Municipal Utilities Association, and a 50-year member of the Denison Masonic Lodge and a life member of the American Public Power Association.

Survivors include his wife; one son, Dr. David Wait, Nevada; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.

Visitation was held April 9 at Chet Ryan Mortuary, Nevada. Services were held April 10 at the Denison First United Methodist Church with burial in the Nevada Cemetery.
