Willis Sylvester died Monday
Willis Edward Sylvester, 64, Nevada, died Monday [July 5, 1971] at Mary Greeley Hospital after an illness of three months.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. from the Nevada United Methodist Church with the Rev. Marvin L. Hulse officiating. Burial will be in the Nevada Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Ryan Funeral Home, Nevada.
Mr. Sylvester was born March 7, 1907 in Dubuque to Edward and Martha Sylvester. He had been a resident of Nevada for the past 60 years and had been a monument dealer in Nevada. For the past 19 years he had been employed at the Atomic Research Commission at Iowa State University. He was a member of the Nevada United Methodist Church and the Masonic Lodge, and was a former city councilman in Nevada. He married Clara Hollup* June 19, 1926 in Prairie City.
Mr. Sylvester was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Clara Sylvester, Nevada; one son, Max Sylvester, Webster City; one daughter, Mrs. Patty Van Sickle, Nevada; and seven grandchildren.
