Obituary From Mitchell Funeral Home, Marshalltown, Marshall County, Iowa.

Jack Naughton, 81, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, April 17, 2014 at Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Henry Catholic Church with Father Donald Czapla officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary service at 7:00 p.m. at Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Jack Naughton was born on September 8, 1932 in Nevada, Iowa to Raymond James Sr. and Neva Mae Flater Naughton. Jack served our country honorably in the United States Navy from 1951 until his discharge in 1955. On June 15, 1957 Jack was united in marriage to Marilyn Goodman at St Mary’s Catholic Church in Marshalltown. Jack graduated from Iowa State University in 1959 with a degree in Industrial Engineering. Jack and Marilyn moved to Torrington, Connecticut where Jack worked for the Torrington Company. When Torrington Company established a new plant in Clinton, South Carolina, Jack was transferred. The family returned to Marshalltown in 1963 and Jack worked for Fisher Controls until his retirement. Jack was an avid Iowa State Cyclone sports fan. He also liked to garden, read and watch Notre Dame football. Jack especially enjoyed the time he spent with his family, and loved being with his grandchildren. After retirement, Jack was dedicated to passing on his unfailing commitment to family and faith. He spent quality time with his grandchildren to share his wisdom and values, and built a unique and special bond with each of them.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 56 years; Marilyn (Goodman). Children: Kathy (Ben) Barberio of West Des Moines, Iowa, Tom (Suzie) Naughton of Reno, Nevada, Rob (Sherri) Naughton of Worden, Illinois and Nancy (Fred) Van Metre of Marshalltown. Grandchildren: Shannon Bogolin, Jennifer Naughton, Jill (Brad) Bartlett, Shaila and Hannah Naughton and Madelyn, Matt and Mark Van Metre. Great-grandchild: Aubree Bartlett, Brother Dave (Cecilia) Naughton of Nevada, Iowa and many other nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
