Ted Hoff, 87, of Palm Harbor, Florida and former long-time resident of Ames, passed away April 22, 2014. A memorial visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Saturday, May 17 at Adams Funeral Home in Ames. There will be a graveside service with military honors at Ames Municipal Cemetery following the visitation.

Ted Henry Hoff was born June 13, 1926 to Carl and Alma Hoff in Waterloo, Iowa. He was a 1944 graduate of Ames High School and served in the United States Navy from 1944 to 1946. Ted graduated from Drake University in 1951. Ted and Patricia Carver were married on March 30, 1951. Married 61 years, Pat passed away on June 9, 2012.

Ted joined his father in business at Ames Dr. Pepper Bottling Company in 1951, later becoming owner. It was sold in 1972. He then worked in Central Stores for the City of Ames Finance Department until his retirement. Ted was a member of the Moose Lodge and a past commander of American Legion Post #37.

Survivors include his daughter, Kathy (Don) Docken, of Panama City Beach, Florida; his sons, Keith (An’Nyce) Hoff, of Gilbert, Kevin (Joanne) Hoff, of Lindenhurst, Illinois, Kent (Sandi) Hoff, of Ames, Kirk Hoff, of Bloomington, Illinois, and Kyle Hoff, of Palm Harbor, Florida; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his sisters, Janet Hoff, of Carroll and Elsie (Chuck) Walter, of Bellingham, Washington; and several nieces and nephews.

Ted was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one brother, one sister, and two infant children, Karen and Patrick.
