Earl Kenneth Chaffin was born in Story county, the son of Charles and Sarah J. Matthews Chaffin July 25, 1891, and passed away at Colo Street Sanitarium in Oakland, Calif. June 1, 1956 at the age of 66 years, 10 months and 6 days.

Earl spent the younger years of his life in and around Nevada as and automobile salesman, and in 1919 the family moved to Mason City, Iowa where he lived for a while. After a few years there he moved to Oakland, Calif. where he owned his own used car business having spent 50 years in that business.

he is survived by his wife, Mary Chaffin of Oakland, Calif., two sons, Lamar Chaffin of Hampton, Carroll G. of Aberdeen, S. D., tow daughters, Mrs. Maxine Russell of San Lorenzo, Calif. and Mrs. Geraldine Evanhoff of Council Bluffs. There are also eleven grand children, three brothers, Edward and Genn of Milford, Iowa and William Chaffin of Mitchell, S. D.; also cousins in Nevada and Ames, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter in infancy.
