Final Rites Held Here Tuesday for Theodore Clemmer

Funeral rites for Theodore H. Clemmer, who died at Mercy hospital in Des Moines, Sunday, were held at the Morfoot Funeral home here Tuesday afternoon, with Rev. O. E. Cooley in charge and with Mrs. Hathaway at the organ.

The services were attended by many relatives and friends from a distance, among them being several from Madrid, Des Moines and other points, including the brother Rev. J. Neal Clemmer of Dexter and Mrs. Clemmer.

Committal was in charge of the Nevada Masonic lodge, the deceased being a member of that order at Madrid, where the last years of his active business life had been identified.

The following life sketch of the deceased was read by the officiating minister during the service:

"Theodore H. Clemmer was born in Coon Rapids, Iowa, May 18. 1897, and passed away in the Mercy hospital, Des Moines, Sunday morning May 2, 1943, at the age of 45 years, 11 months and 10 days. He was the fifth son of George and Mary Catherine Clemmer, received his education in the public schools at Coon Rapids and Ferguson High and was a graduate of the Highland Park School of Pharmacy of Des Moines.

"Ted," as he was called by all who knew him, was a member of the Methodist church, Granger lodge A. F. & A. M., Des Moines Consistory No. 3; Za-Ga-Zig Temple Shrine, and Past Worthy Patron of Occidental Chapter No. 160 Order of Eastern Star of Madrid.

"For the past twelve years he has been associated with the Swan Pharmacy at Madrid. Prior to that time he was employed by the Binert Drug Co. of Marshalltown. "Ted" was a good pharmacist a loyal citizen, always taking active part in all civic enterprises and willing and eager to carry his share of any and all responsibility.

His health failed nearly two years ago and since that time has been making his home with his sister, Mrs. Edna Schreck, in Des Moines. This is the third death in the Clemmer family of children in the past year. George Lee passed away May 20, 1942, Dorothy Duffy on October 7, 1942.

"He leaves to mourn his passing four brothers, Rev. J. Neal Clemmer of Dexter, Iowa, Dell G. of General Motors, Detroit, Mich., Stenley J., of Des Moines, and J. Bruce, School of Mines Tuscaloosa, Alabama, three sisters, Edna and Frances of Des Moines, and Mrs. Evelyn Haffner of Sabula, Iowa.

Ted was clean cut, four square, loved and was loved by all who knew him. His passing was a shock to the family who are receiving the sympathy of a large circle of friencs and relatives.
