MRS. ELIZABETH SNELLING*
Mrs. Elizabeth Snelling*, 85, former resident of Nevda, died at the home of her son-in-law Gene Roll in Des Moines, Saturday night [August 3, 1939.]
Mrs. Snelling, widow of the late F. B. Snelling, was born Elizabeth Mead*, at Blenhein, Ontario, Canada, February 8, 1854, and came to Iowa and settled in Richland township, Story county, as a girl. There she was married to Mr. Snelling and lived until about 1895 when they moved into Nevada and Mr. Snelling became one of the first rural mail carriers in Story county.
The two daughters were Mrs. Edith Gates, now of Ames, and Mrs. Jennie Ross, who died in Des Moines a few years ago.
She was a member of the Methodist church and regular attendant of that congregation during her long life.
Following the death of her husband she lived much of the time with her younger daughter Mrs. Roll and husband and after the death of the daughter she remained in the Roll home.
