JACOB KNUDSON

Jacob Knudson, 77, for over 48 years a respected citizen of Nevada, died at his home Saturday evening. Since locating in Nevada in 1893 Mr. Knudson had always been active in business, civic and church affairs and was recognized as one of the substantial and valuable citizens of the community, with a wide acquaintance in all parts of the county.

Born Jan. 7, 1865, of one of the pioneer families of Livingston county, Ill. he was married to Bertha Halverson at Paxton, Ill., June 1, 1886, and came with his young wife to Nevada in 1893 and located himself in the grocery business, in which he continued until 1900.

He served for some time as president of the People's Savings bank in Nevada and held various other responsible positions.

During his more active real estate activities, he ws connected at one time with Arthur Dean and later with A. L. Dayton, both deceased.

He had been a member of the Memorial Lutheran church throughout his residence in Nevada. For more than 35 years he served on the church council and for 25 of those years was church treasurer.

Mr. Knudson leaves in the home his wife and his sister-in-law, Miss Letta Holverson. He also leaves his daughter Sue, now Mrs. Warren G. White of Kansas City; his son Clyde Knudson of south of Colo; four grandchildren, Warren Gardner White jr., of Iowa City, Jean White of Kansas City, and Katherine and Janet Knudson of near Colo.

Surviving also are his brothers, B. A. Knudson of Santa Ana, Calif., S. J. Knudson of Mt. Vernon, S. D., Charles Knudson of Ransom, Ill., and O. A. Knudson of Ames, and one sister Mrs. Martha Cooper of Maxwell.
