From Nevada Journal August 19, 1921

Aged Lady Was Native of Ohio - Funeral Wednesday.

There was a large concourse of relatives and friends gathered at the Methodist church in this city Wednesday afternoon to express their affection and respect for the late Mrs. T. S. Arnold, who had died at Shipley Monday afternoon. Following the services in the church, which were conducted by her pastor, Dr. R.M. Shipman, the body was taken to the Nevada cemetery where interment was made. Music was furnished by a quartet chosen from the choir.

Susan Arnold, daughter of Paxton and Sarah Johnson, was born in Adams county, Ohio, April 10, 1848 and at the time of her death, Aug. 15, 1921, was 74 years, four months and five days old.
In March of 1876 she was joined in marriage with Robert S. Arnold. Following the marriage the couple lived in Kentucky, Fleming county, and came to Iowa in February of 1905, making their home in Story county near Shipley, in which vicinity the home had been since. Three children gladdened their home but they lost two of them, Robert at the age of nine years and Jennie when 27 years old. The son Samuel and the husband and father are the surviving near relatives.

At the age of sixteen years Mrs. Arnold was converted and united with the Methodist church, retaining her membership in that church until the time of death. Her going, in spite of being expected, comes as a great loss to her family and their sorrow excites the kindly sympathies of the community in which they live.
