LYDIA ANN LOUNSBERRY
Lydia Ann Lounsberry, 100, of Nevada, died Sunday, Aug. 28, 1983, at the Story County Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 30 at the United Methodist Church, with Rev. Ernest Larson officiating. Burial will be at the Nevada Municipal Cemetery.
Lounsberry was born on March 2, 1883 to Newton and Adeline (Flater) Shaffer on a farm near Tipton. She was educated in the Nevada School.
She married James Garfield Lounsberry on Dec. 24, 1902 at her parents' home in Nevada. She and her husband farmed southeast of Nevada before she moved to Nevada in 1956. James Lounsberry died in 1935.
She was a member of the Central Presbyterian Church, a 50-year member of the order of Eastern Star and the Rebeccah Lodges, and a member of D.A. R. and the Nevada Women's Club.
Lounsberry is survived by three sons, Frank of Nevada, Charles of Ames and Wayne of rural Nevada; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Arthur; and three sisters, Clara, Ethel and Chloe.
An Eastern Star service has been scheduled by 8:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 29 at the Ryan Funeral Home.
