John D. Conner
June 6, 1909 to March 19, 1994John D. Conner, M.D., died at his home. The cause of death in unknown pending results of an autopsy.
He was born to Frank Howard and Sarah Jane (Dutton) Conner in Nevada. He was a graduate of the University of Iowa Medical School. On Dec. 25, 1940, he married Agnes Marie Weyers in Nevada. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Central Presbyterian Church, the Masonic Lodge, American Legion, Za-Ga-Zig Shrine, the American Medical Association and the Iowa Medical Society. His hobbies included hunting, fishing and model railroading. He was a lifelong resident of Nevada. In 1976, he retired from his private practice as a general practitioner.
Survivors include his wife, Agnes Conner of Nevada; his daughter, Ellen Whinery of Nevada; his son, Jim D. Conner of Racine, Wis.; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
Memorial services were held March 22 with the Rev. Brad Braley of Central Presbyterian Church officiating. The body was cremated and will be buried in the Nevada Municipal Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Bliss Cancer Center at Mary Greeley Medical Center, Ames, or Shriners Childrens Hospitals. Cooper-Ryan Funeral Home, Nevada, was in charge of arrangements.
