Obituary
The funeral of Mrs. J. M. Olson was held from the Presbyterian church in McCallsburg Wednesday afternoon, May 22, with Rev. James D. Ransom in charge, and was attended by a large number of relatives and friends.
The many beautiful floral pieces were cared for by Mrs. Henry Mehlow and Mrs. Roy Baumgardner.
Casket bearers were six nephews of Mr. and Mrs. Olson, William Birchmier, J. R. Stahlman of Nevada, Jesse Jorstad, Otis Jorstad, Obed Olson, and Reuben Olson of McCallsburg.
Burial was made in the Warren Township cemetery.
Byrde Lee, daughter of Robert and Cynthia Bryant, was born near Zearing, Ia., October 24, 1882. She was baptized in the Christian church in Zearing. On December 14, 1906 she was married to M. J. Olson of McCallsburg and her entire life has been spent in the Zearing and McCallsburg neighborhoods where her cheerfulness, friendliness and thoughfulness made her a host of friends. She had been in failing health for several years, but continued always pleasant and hopeful, interested in the activities of her children, grandhildren, and the community in general.
She became very ill Sunday morning, May 20, '51 with a heart attack and was rushed to the Story City hospital where all possible was done for her but she slipped away early Monday morning after remaining conscious to the end.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and three sisters and one son, Robert Wayne Olson.
She is survived by her husband, six children: Mrs. Max Adams of Dorset, Miss., Lt. Wendell Olson, of Menard, Texas; Mrs. Pat Patakotis, of Des Moines, Velma, Weston and Warren of McCallsburg.
Also surviving are seven grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Martha Dillon of Nevada, and Mrs. Frank Hanson, of Rochester, Wash., who with her many friends and neighbors will miss her greatly.
