Rites Saturday for Mrs. Bates

Mrs. Myrtle L. Bates, 64, 122 North Maple Ave., died about 1 a.m. today at Mary Greeley Hospital where she had been a patient for the past six weeks. She had been ill health for the past two years.

Born at Centerville, she lived in Ames for past 40 years. She was employed in the central office at the Iowa State Highway Commission for 37 years.

Mrs. Bates was a member of First Christian Church.

Survivors include her husband, G. L. (Jack) Bates; two stepsons, Arthur (Bud) Bates of Ames and Willard Bates, in Newfoundland and five grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. from the Adams Funeral Home with the Rev. Edward F. Moore of First Christian Church officiating. Burial is to be in Cambridge Cemetery.
