Olive Lucille Johnson Batman, 100, of Story City, died Monday, February 24, 2014 while a resident of Bethany Manor. Funeral services will be Saturday, March 1, 2014 at 10:00 AM at Mackey Methodist Church, 288 V Avenue, Story City with burial to follow at the Mackey Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday evening, February 28, 2014 from 5-7 PM at Stevens Memorial Chapel, 607 28th St., Ames.
Olive was born September 27, 1913 in Mackey; the daughter of Ole and Nellie Knight Johnson. She attended school in Story City, graduating in 1932. Olive married Frank A. Batman on November 10, 1933 in Buffalo, NY and lived in various places until moving to Ames in 1963. She worked as a housekeeper for Dr. and Mrs. Robert Parks at Iowa State University. Olive enjoyed making china dolls and painting china dishes. She was a lifelong member of Mackey Methodist Church.
Olive is survived by children Faye Ann (Wallace) Anderson of Genoa, IL, Larry (Koleen) Batman of Kountze, TX, Carolyn (William) Watson of Ames, Pamela (Dale) Kuehl of Atlantic, IA, and Becky Batman of Story City; 14 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank in December 1982, and grandsons, T.J. Reinsch and Allen Batman.
