Kenneth “Ken” Cowman, 67, of Cambridge, passed away Saturday, February 1, 2014, at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City.

Ken was born December 9, 1946, in Des Moines, Iowa. He was adopted and raised by Oscar and Elizabeth (Phelps) Cowman. Ken graduated from Maxwell High School in 1965 and had worked at NADC for over 40 years. He was united in marriage to Dona Smith July 31, 1976 at Saint Mary’s Church in Colo, Iowa. Ken enjoyed farming, hunting, ISU Sports and Auto Racing.

Ken is survived by his wife, Dona of Cambridge; a brother-in-law: Tom (Marsha) Smith of Clive, Iowa, two sisters-in-law: Virginia (John) Tietz of Denver, Colorado, Pat Anderson of Nevada, Iowa; a niece: Terri (Erik) Bradshaw of Vista, California; two nephews: Scott Anderson of Nevada, Iowa, and Robert Anderson of Des Moines, Iowa.

Ken was preceded in death by his biological and adopted parents.

Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 PM Tuesday at the Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada.

Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Wednesday at the Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada with Pastor Tom Lee officiating. Interment will be in Maxwell Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Cambridge First Responders.
