MRS. MARY BELCHER WAS LAID TO REST
(Collins Gazette 7-19-1934)Funeral services for the late Mrs. Mary Belcher, 92, were held Saturday afternoon at 2:00 from the Collins Methodist church, in charge of Rev. C. E. Lookingbill of Nevada, who took as his text Phil. 1:21. Interment was in Collins Evergreen cemetery.
Mrs. Mary Belcher, widow of the late john C. Belcher of Collins, died Thursday, July 12, (1934) at 8 p.m. at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. W. Bloomfield, 622 7th street, Ames. Death was due to heart disease and old age. She had been in ill health for several weeks.
Mrs. Belcher was born Dec. 20, 1843, in Indiana, the daughter of Valentine and Magdalene Shearer. She was united in marriage to John C. Belcher on July 27, 1871, and to this union two daughters were born: Mrs. J.W. Bloomfield of Ames and Mrs. Henry Cobb of Lawrence, Kans. Her husband died 16 years ago at their home in Collins.
She also leaves eight grand children, 10 great grandchildren, one sister Mrs. James Womach of LeRoy, Minn., and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was a lifelong member of the Methodist church, her father having been a Methodist minister for more than 30 years.
