Obituary From Boeke Funeral Homes, Hardin County, Iowa.

Bruce Hackbarth, age 61, of Ames, IA, was pronounced dead on Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames.

Bruce Lyle Hackbarth was born on June 1, 1952 in Eldora, Iowa. He was the first born child of Lyle and Lois (Blome) Hackbarth.

Bruce was baptized and confirmed in the Zion United Church of Christ in Hubbard, Iowa.

He received his education by attending the Hubbard Community School District where he graduated with the Class of 1970. He then attained his Bachelors Degree at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa and was an avid Cyclone fan.

He remained in Ames and made his career working for the Union Pacific Railroad.

Bruce was pronounced dead on Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at the Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames, Iowa.

Those remaining to cherish his memory include his companion, Karen Duff of Ames; two sisters Brenda Ites and her husband Mike of North Liberty and Beverly Konrardy and her husband Curt of Oswego, Illinois; and one brother Brian and his wife Kim of Flower Mound, Texas; along with many other relatives and friends.

Bruce was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorials:
In lieu of flowers, the family would like to have memorials made to Eyerly Ball Mental Health Services, and directed to the family, c/o Brenda Ites, 735 Berkshire Lane, North Liberty, IA 52317.
